PERSONALITY: Mike has always been able to make friends easily and that is because he is genuinely fun to be around. He has an innovative mind that can pump out a million and one things to do in under a minute and all of them will be tons of fun for all involved. He loves to be around people and to be the center of attention and it shows in the way he practically commands it every time he enters a room. He just has an aura of friendliness and approachability around him that makes people want to stop what they're doing to see what he's doing. He's delightfully spontaneous, coming up with plans on the spur of the moment, but has a practical and respectable streak in him that prevents him from doing anything illegal or that will get him and his companions in trouble. Mike has a good rapport with parents because he strikes them as an all american boy, with his baby face, charming smile, and impeccable manners. Which is awesome because it means they trust him not to be up to exactly what he's always up to.

Though more or less harmless, Mike has a caustic tongue that sometimes earns him the ire of more than a few people. If he doesn't like you, he will be more than vocal about it. In fact, he will tell you to your face, then tell all his friends, all your friends, and anyone else he can get to listen. He is perfectly capable of smiling like a perfect gentleman while calling you and all your relative ass-munching bastards and, at times, gets all the more cheerful to match the vile things coming out of his mouth. His anger, though slow to come, is not so much scary as it is annoying and this is one guy who can hold a grudge until the end of time. Once he's made up his mind about someone, it's hard to change it, especially if his opinion is negative.

He's not a selfish or domineering friend or boyfriend, but that is because he values his freedom just as much as he will respect someone else's. He likes going out and hanging out with his friends, but he hates feeling forced into doing things he doesn't want to do. He will let you do whatever you want with whoever you want just as long as you give him the same courtesy and he's very rarely jealous. He's secure in his relationships most of the time; the only time he does get jealous is when he's not sure where he stands with someone. If he's trying to impress a girl and someone else starts moving in on her, then he will get jealous. If he's already dating her, she can hang out with whatever male person she wants until ass o'clock in the morning and he won't bat an eyelash. Look at how many of his friends are female.

Mike is sensible and idealistic, with a gentle and sensitive side that occasionally shocks people who haven't been around him long. He doesn't outright show it, but there is nothing he wouldn't do for a friend, no matter how early in the morning it is, and he's pretty good at dealing with wild displays of emotion as long as no crying is involved. He'd prefer to find a girl depressed than crying; he's a guy. Tears make him automatically awkward. He can occasionally seem like he is in a world all his own, but he remembers everything he is told and reveals his knowledge selectively. He might forget Valentine's Day (especially as it occurs the day after his birthday) but he will remember that you once said your favorite color is purple and that you hate bugs. His gifts are surprisingly thoughtful and unpredictable.

Whatever the situation, things are never boring around Mike Newton. That's all part of his charm.

PARENTS: Andrew Newton (Owner of Newton Outfitter’s) and Karen Newton (Same).
THEIR RELATIONSHIP: Andrew and Karen have been together since the dawn of time itself, so not only are they very comfortable with one another, they are also comfortable showing affection in front of their son. Who is scarred. He likes to say that's why he needs reading glasses; his parents partially blinded him with their love.

FAMILY DYNAMICS: Karen is a strict mother, but Mike realizes that it's for his own good and just tries not to piss her off too much. Andrew and Mike have your typical father-son bonding type of relationship. They play basketball and soccer in the backyard and Andrew is also the one Mike takes all his problems to. He loves his parents a lot. He just wishes they'd stop making out in front of him.

PERSONAL HISTORY: Mike was born in the small southern California town of Mira Loma to Andrew and Karen Newton, two high school sweethearts who were married straight out of college and had him just over a year later. Since they themselves were barely out of their formative years upon having a child, they were sensitive to Mike and his needs and, rather than being overly strict or not understanding his problems, did their best to help him through them. This has made Mike comfortable enough to discuss his various problems with his parents where other kids would be talking to their friends first and their parents never.

Mike loved Mira Loma, loved California, loved everything about the sun and fun of his home. He had a naturally magnetic personality that won him tons of friends and admirers, even at a young age, but he was never obnoxious about it. He played dodgeball and kickball on the playground, stuck up for kids who were being bullied by other kids, and spent most of his time outdoors learning how to play every sport under the sun. His father helped him, being a sports buff himself, and sometimes they would even go out and try a new sport together, just for the hell of it.

Then, when he was ten, his parents turned his life upside down by deciding to move from one small town to another. Andrew was interested in opening his own camping equipment/general sports equipment store up in Forks, Washington and, despite Mike's protests, he was moved from sunny California to rainy little Forks.

At first, Mike hated his new town and everyone in it. He missed his old life, where he had tons of friends and tons of girls falling all over him and tons of fun. But, slowly, when he realized that no amount of sulking would make his parents change their mind, plus after seeing how happy they were here, he decided to suck it up and start over. When he wasn't acting like a total jerk, Mike found it easy to reverse the opinion of the people of Forks and make himself a brand new circle of friends.

Most of the parties thrown were thrown by Mike. Most of the events planned were planned by Mike. He gained himself a sort of notoriety as being "the man with the plan" or just at the center of the action and he preferred it that way. After all, he brought excitement to an otherwise extremely boring town. As soon as he hit fourteen, he was sent to Forks High School with the same friends he'd been hanging out with since his move.

He is currently in his junior year at Forks High School and working part-time at his Dad's store (as he has been pretty much since it opened).
